Aqiqa is a beautiful Sunnah in Islam, symbolizing gratitude to Allah for the blessing of a newborn child. It involves sacrificing an animal and distributing the meat to the needy, relatives, and friends. However, many families in Pakistan cannot afford to perform Aqiqa due to financial hardships.
At Arsh Foundation, we help families fulfill this Islamic obligation by organizing Aqiqa Animal Sacrifices and distributing the meat among underprivileged communities. Our mission is to make this Sunnah accessible to all, regardless of financial constraints, while also supporting the needy with nutritious food.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“Every child is in pledge for his Aqiqa, which is sacrificed on his behalf on the seventh day, and he is named, and his head is shaved.”
(Sunan Abi Dawood 2838)
The number of animals for Aqiqa depends on the gender of the child:
For a Boy: Two goats or sheep are recommended.
For a Girl: One goat or sheep is recommended.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“For the boy, two sheep and for the girl, one sheep.”
(Sunan Abu Dawood 2834)
